Portland Stage is Maine’s largest fully professional and non-profit theater. Opening in 1974 they began with productions of Hair, Scenes  from American Life, Decameron Tales, Mark Twain Sketches and Last of the Red Hot Lovers to name a few. To help educate, Portland Stage offers readings and acting workshops for children on Saturday mornings. Take the children to a matinee for some amazing and funny productions such as The Amazing Bone, Cinder Edna and Sheep in Wolves Clothing. Providing a wide range of artistic works, Portland Stage wishes to explore basic human issues and concerns relevant to the communities served by the theater.
